My fiancee (boyfriend at the time) and I took a trip to Vegas in the middle of February and this is what we did and where we went! It was my first time ever in Vegas!
The Venetian | we really liked our room and how spacious it was! The location is more towards one end of the strip and not in the middle so we did a good bit of walking to check out other hotels; but this hotel does have the famous mall with the gondolas in it so that was pretty neat!
-The casino in the Venetian was nicer than some of the other hotels I noticed but definitely not the nicest by far
-Overall, I think for the price of the Venetian it’s a pretty good option
*Make sure to check out third party sites to find good deals on the hotels
The Top of the World at the Stratosphere |
-Our first night we made reservations here and it was definitely a cool experience! Overpriced food though so you’re more so paying for the experience and not the food
-The floor rotates around so you get a 360 view of Las Vegas and can go up to the very top for some sight seeing
-Be warned though, it you get motion sickness easily this may not be for you. I get a little motion sickness and could definitely tell we were moving!
The other two nights we went to concerts and so we had snacked or had late lunches those days; one night we had pizza in a food court at Caesar’s Palace
-Pretty good burger, but a little overpriced probably because of the location and the name recognition
-They have specialty burgers and some classics so something for everyone! This was located in the middle of the strip near Caesar’s Palace, so a bit of a walk from the Venetian
-We mainly went here because of the name recognition
The Wicked Spoon (inside the Cosmopolitan) |
-This was probably my favorite meal we had in Vegas; so good! We went for the brunch but it’s a buffet so we ended up staying for a little while and eating enough to cover us for the rest of the day!
-It’s a pricier brunch buffet (around $35 per person I believe) but in my opinion was worth it because of the variety and quality they served
-We had seen this place on a buzzfeed video and they highly recommended it as well!
We usually didn’t wake up in time to even think about breakfast and if we did, we just grabbed a coffee
-This is the place where the drinks have candy in them and are poured over the liquid nitrogen and bubble up; pretty Insta worthy and the drinks were pretty tasty!
-Definitely can split one drink!
-The iconic frozen daiquiri shop that you can find in multiple locations throughout the strip, just search for one close to you but definitely need to try!
-I’m pretty sure you can reuse the container they come in as well for a discount!
Any of the casinos will offer you free drinks
-If you just sit down and start playing any game at the casinos, someone will come up to you and offer drinks, they are free so always get some! They do usually expect a tip, I think we did like $1 or $2 for each round she brought us
– If you order a drink, stay in the same place where you ordered it or else they won’t be able to find you!
Things to do
See a show!! | Doesn’t matter what kind of show, but you should definitely try and see something whether it be a concert, cirque de soleil, magic, burlesque, etc.
-We saw the Backstreet Boys and Elton John
Walk down the strip
-Majority of what we did was just walk up and down the strip and go into any store or bar/restaurant that looked interesting; tons of shopping and gambling to do!
See the fountain show at the Bellagio
-The fountain show goes on about every half hour and it really is something cool to see! Also, I thought it was a better experience to see it at night versus the day
-For any restaurant any time of the day, you should definitely make a reservation!!
– Next time, I am definitely wanting to stay at the Cosmopolitan
– The Higher Roller is a ferris wheel like attraction that slowly goes around and you get some great views!
– Dig This: a friend told me about this where you get to drive around and play with bulldozers and construction equipment
– Vegas has no open container laws, so you can carry around your drinks everywhere!
– The Hoover Dam is near so you can take a day trip there
– There is a zip-line that goes over top the old Vegas area
– Outside of scheduled meals, we kind of just snacked around at different places while we were out!
